Sevilleta Natural History

Mammals (89 species)

There are many thousands of species of plants, animals, and fungi living at Sevilleta. There are also many lichens (paired fungi and algae or cyanobacteria). The first annual wildflower walk identified 40 plant species (click for list).

We can not hope to fully list all of the native species, nor can we possibly convey the sense of awe that observing the Sevilleta ecosystem may inspire, realizing that it was here in more-or-less its current state hundreds of years before humans arrived.

The main purpose of this page is simply to share some of the wonderful images that members and visitors have shared with us. Come and see if you can take a picture that should be included.
