Amigos de la Sevilleta
The San Andres NWR is a seldom-explored reserve located between the Jornado del Muerto proving grounds to the west and the White Sands Missile range to the east. The director, Dr. Whitney Kroschel, is offering a driving tour of San Andres on November 18th, provided that the shutdown is ended. It's a 2 1/2 -hour drive from Socorro to the field office in Las Cruces and we will meet at the San Andres Field station at 10am. Directions: Take I-25 S to exit 6. Use 2 left lanes to turn left onto US70. Take US70 E for 9.3 mile and take the Brahman Rd exit. Merge onto Bataan Memorial E. Turn left and go under I70 at Brahman Rd and take another immediate left onto Hereford Blvd. Continue to follow Hereford Blvd 1/2 mile and turn right onto Santa Gertrudis Dr. Destination is on the right. Come join us on a tour of the Ladd S. Gordon Waterfowl area by director Michael R. Chavez. We will meet Friday Nov 21st at 9am at the Bernardo WMA Shop, located a mile N of the 175 exit of I-25 on Hwy 116.
