On Saturday April 18th, Veronica Prush and Bruce Harison are leading a trip to discuss the geology of the NW Sevilleta Refuge on the Ladrone foothills. Meet at the gate at the Sevilleta headquarters at 10AM. Bring sun protection, good hiking footwear, food and water. We will use NWR vehicle(s), so participation is limited. We should be back in 3-4 hours. Please reply to events@amigosdelasevilleta.org if you want to participate.
Experience the desert at night on a moonlight hike through Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge! The hike is almost 4 miles long, including some steep pitches. Please come prepared with sturdy shoes, water and appropriate clothing. The almost full moon will be our source of light, so flashlights and especially headlamps are discouraged. (Red LED flashlights are OK.) We will leave Thursday April 30 at 6:30pm from the Sevilleta gate (possibly driving up to the VC). The moonlight hike is free, but reservations are required. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. For more information or to reserve your spot, please reply to events@amigosdelasevilleta.org.
