Drawn to Sevilleta Poster Contest
If you are here that means you or someone you know participated in the Drawn to Sevilleta Virtual Poster Contest. Woohoo!
Drawn to Sevilleta is a poster contest in the Belen and Socorro school districts that encourages students to learn about and draw a native species found here at the Sevilleta National Wildlife Refuge. This year we connected with students virtually. Check out the poster contest video and see if you can name any native animal species or find your poster! Winners announced at end of video!
A special thanks to all the educators who have made this program possible this year

Outdoor Orchestra
Humans have been inspired by natural sounds throughout history, by listening to the sounds of wind, water, plants, and animals. For centuries, people have imitated these sounds and invented new sounds to express themselves and to communicate with others. Our Outdoor Orchestra activity encourages you to make your own percussion instrument with objects you can find outside. We hope our ideas inspire you to make your own music!
This video is presented by Wonders on Wheels, a Mobile Museum Program. Wonders on Wheels shares partnership with the 8 New Mexico Museums under the New Mexico Department of Cultural Affairs. Each year a new exhibit is installed in our mobile museum and we visit schools, libraries, and special events in all 33 counties of New Mexico. Our free program brings museum quality objects and experiences to all New Mexicans. During the Covid-19 restrictions our programming has gone virtual. Find us on Facebook and investigate our current exhibit from the Museum of International Folk Art, Música Buena: Celebrating Music in New Mexico.
